An electric motor is a component of the drivetrain system in electric vehicles (EV) or hybrid electric vehicles (HEV). Therefore, considering its strong interaction with other related components during the drivetrain development process is crucial. During the virtual development of drivetrains, engineers in professional simulation departments regularly perform typical tasks. These range from system-level overall vehicle concept and layout analysis, to subsystem-level drivetrain dynamics and NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness), and component-level motor 3D thermal analysis. Engineers executing such simulations may not always be experts in electromagnetic simulations.

However, they need to consider the interactions between the electric motor and the rest of the drivetrain. The E-Motor Tool (EMT) is specifically developed for users like them: when conducting system layouts, only general requirements are known, and the E-Motor is unavailable. With just one click, EMT’s “Concept Designer” provides reasonable suggestions for motor designs that meet given requirements. When geometry is available but precise results of electromagnetic simulations (e.g., power loss, torque, and force ripple) are missing, EMT’s “Geometry Assistant” generates electromagnetic simulation models. The “Model Assistant” will automatically perform the simulations and accurately output the required data.
